New album in the works

We're glad to report that the band has been back in the studio working on material for our next album. So far we've tracked 8 new songs, 7 of which we've been working on with recording producer Paul Mahern. This past weekend was spent in Bloomington, IN at Farm Fresh Studios with Mahern and engineer Jacob Belser (owner of Farm Fresh Studios) laying down tracks for the upcoming new release. Along with the stuff from the Mahern sessions, the project will be rounded out with 2 or 3 tunes recorded by honorary 5th Charley member, Jason Bambery (who recorded our 2006 EP "Off The Side Of The Road") at Shag Studio, Indianapolis. We're extremely excited about the new material and recordings and can't wait to get it finished and out. For anyone who knows us and is familiar with our music, there will probably be some surprising moments on it. Check back here as we will keep you updated on our progress.

WEEM session

As some of you know, we did a live radio session in August at WEEM (91.7 FM - here in central Indiana). We went there to promote our show at the Vogue in Indianapolis, which took place the following night. For that show we completely re-arranged several of our older tunes to fit within the guidelines we had been given (sort of - we were told we couldn’t use drums, but we did). In addition to the reworked oldies, we also included a couple new numbers we had recently arranged. All together our set was stripped-down, semi-acoustic, and definitely different from what we had been used to doing (plus Jeff Smock blew some trumpet for us on “Mexican Moon”). During our WEEM session we previewed 3 songs from the Vogue show set list with interviews in between. Since then, Dodge (My Old Kentucky Blog) has aired the new version we did at the radio station that day of “Room 303” on his Sirius satellite radio show (MOKB- SIRIUS Blog Radio, Left Of Center, Channel 26.). Also, WEEM has posted all 3 songs for free download on their website. So if you didn’t catch the concert, or the WEEM show, or haven't heard us on Sirius radio’s Left Of Center, (or even if you did) you can download the three MP3’s from the WEEM session right here:
